During a typical weekend, teenage boys aren’t necessarily focused on saving the environment, but for Akasha, aged 14, and Nile, aged 13, reducing waste, recycling where possible, and fighting for a more sustainable New Zealand with Letterboxer, are just part of the many ways in which the next generation are taking a stand against climate change.

Led by their father, Letterboxer NZ Manager Julian, Akasha and Nile have processed all the requests for no-junkmail stickers through the Letterboxer website. Since 2012, each and every sticker request has been processed, and the envelopes hand written, and posted by these incredible young men.

When Akasha is not saving the environment, he is a dedicated student. In 2017, the Shirley Boys’ High School student received an NCEA result of Academic Excellence for his first year of high school.

The winners are: Pete Nicholls won 1st place, Chris Simpson won 2nd place and Henry Bennet won 3rd place.

They each received an iPod Nano. Pete has turned down the offer of an internship at DoubleDot Media because he’s the Chief Technical Officer at Gennaker Performance and is very happy there.

Thank you to the guest speakers, Rhyce Taylor from Sustainable Living and Dan Marrow from Greenpeace. Thank you to everyone who entered the competition, we received over 120 designs and were impressed with the high quality of the entries. Thank you to everyone who turned up, it was a great turn out.

You could win the latest iPod nano

Letterboxer is looking for the coolest ‘no junkmail’ sticker designers in NZ! We need a design for the new no-junkmail stickers we will be printing and posting nationwide for free. By entering you could help the environment, get famous, win an ipod and a score your dream job too 🙂

How To Enter

Create a cool, funky or simple no-junkmail sticker for Letterboxer

Enter as many times as you like

Convert your design to a high resolution JPG, PNG, or PDF.
If you’re submitting any non-vector art, make sure it’s at 300 DPI.

Email the file to competition at letterboxer dot org dot nz

Sit back and wait for the winners to be announced

Entries close 15th October, extended until 31st October

The Rules

Use the text, “No Junkmail” or “No Circulars”.

Size: 90 x 40 mm in your choice of landscape or portrait orientation. We strongly recommend landscape because it fits better on letterboxes.

Add 2mm bleed, so the size of your artwork is 94 x 44mm with the expectation that 2mm will be trimmed from each edge. This is important!

Colours: This will be printed in 2 colours on a white sticker, they are black and lime green (Pantone PMS 376 or RGB 127,186,0). Just provide it in RGB, CMYK, whatever you’re comfortable with. We can convert it to spot colours later.

Incorporate the new Letterboxer logo (available soon), the DoubleDot Media logo and the random logo in the logo pack (it will be replaced with something. Maybe your local dairy or your regional council, we don’t know yet).

To win you must be a New Zealander (resident or citizen)

Don’t Like Rules? Go Free Style

Want to unleash your creativity? Do whatever you want, there are no rules. However please consider the printing cost.

Check back soon for changes to the requirements – this is just a draft 🙂

Terms & Conditions

All entrants work remains their own intellectual property but should Letterboxer show interest in using their work in any capacity then Letterboxer will contact the entrant to talk about contracts and renumeration. In order to win an iPod nano the winning entrants must agree to transfer the intellectual property of their entered design to Letterboxer for this specific project and no other, however should another use for the work other than outlined in this competition arise, we will revert back to you for any remuneration to you.
